Leny Yoro: Man Utd defender undergoes successful foot surgery

Manchester United on Monday revealed that summer signing Leny Yoro has had successful foot surgery following the injury he picked up during their pre-season tour in the United States.

The 18-year-old, who joined the Red Devils in a big money move from Ligue 1 side Lille, suffered a foot injury in their 2-1 defeat to Arsenal at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, the same match in which Danish forward Rasmus Hojlund picked up a hamstring injury, which will rule him out of action for six weeks.

United in a statement on their club website, revealed that the teenage centre-back will begin his rehabilitation process from the injury set to sideline him for three months.

The statement read: “Manchester United defender Leny Yoro has today had a successful surgery on his foot injury.”

“Our summer signing from Lille sustained the injury during the team’s recent friendly match against Arsenal in Los Angeles, USA.

“Yoro’s rehabilitation starts now and we look forward to the 18-year-old returning to fitness in around three months.”

Yoro is projected to return to action in late October, with the defender expected to miss about nine Premier League games, including key matches against Liverpool, Tottenham, and Aston Villa, as well as the start of United’s Europa League and Carabao Cup campaigns.
