Manchester City have been fined more than £1.08 million by the Premier League for delaying kick-offs and match restarts nine times last season, Afrosport reports.
This comes after City were fined £2.09 million for breaching the same rules by delaying 22 matches in the previous season as well.
City have accepted the fines and apologised for the latest breach of the rules which occurred in home games against Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur, Nottingham Forest, Manchester United, West Ham United and Newcastle United and their away fixtures against Crystal Palace, Aston Villa and Ipswich Town.
“Rules relating to kick-offs and restarts help ensure the organisation of the competition is set at the highest possible professional standard and provides certainty to fans and participating clubs, read a Premier League statement.
“It also ensures the broadcast of every Premier League match is kept to schedule.”
Meanwhile, Man City are still awaiting a verdict on 115 charges of alleged breaches of the Premier League’s Financial Fair Play rules between 2009 and 2023, strongly denying all the charges.
