Mbappe discharged from hospital after acute gastroenteritis treatment

Real Madrid superstar Kylian Mbappe has been discharged from hospital on Thursday after being treated for acute gastroenteritis, Afrosport reports.

The former Paris Saint-Germain player was absent from Los Blancos training on Tuesday due to a fever and did not feature in the 1-1 draw with Al-Hilal in the FIFA Club World Cup in Miami Gardens.

Madrid had earlier announced he was in hospital on Thursday but has now been released and returned to the training base in Palm Beach.

“Kylian Mbappe was discharged from hospital this afternoon and has returned to the Real Madrid training complex,” read a club statement.

“Mbappe will continue with specific medical treatment and will gradually return to team activity.”

It is yet to be seen if Mbappe will recover in time to play against Mexican side Pachuca in Charlotte on Sunday or in Madrid’s final group game against RB Salzburg on June 26.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner scored 43 goals in 56 games in all competitions during the course of the 2024-25 season.
