‘We deserve it’ – Bosz on PSV’s UCL progress

Ancelotti tips Mbappe to reach Ronaldo’s level

PSV Eindhoven manager Peter Bosz believes his team deserved to progress to the UEFA Champions League knockout phase after defeating Juventus 4-3 on aggregate in the knockout playoffs, Afrosport reports.

The Dutch giants lost 2-1 in the first leg Turin before winning the return leg in Eindhoven by the same scoreline.

It forced extra time and Ryan Flamingo stepped up with winner in the 98th minute to mark the first time PSV progressed from an European knockout stage game after losing the first leg since 2001 against PAOK FC in the UEFA Cup.

They are also the second Dutch team to go through in this round after Feyenoord’s 2-1 aggregate win over AC Milan.

“Dutch football can never compete with those big teams with a lot of money, but we deserved this win, and in both matches,” Bosz said.

“The loss in Turin was avoidable, and in the end it was a two-match contest. We deserved it and I am happy for Dutch football and for Feyenoord as well, it’s great and we are very proud of it.”

PSV have reached the Champions League round of 16 back to back for the first time since the 2006-07 season.
