Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou says he is disappointed by Destiny Udogie and the injury that has ruled him out for the reminder of the season.
The Italian-Nigerian full-back has been a key cog for the Lilywhites and their attacking brand of play.
He suffered a quadriceps injury while taking a shot on goal in training and will no longer be able to be part of Spurs’ hopes to trying to secure a top four spot.
“A disappointing one for Destiny and for ourselves as well,” Postecoglou said ahead of Sunday’s North London Derby with Arsenal.
“He’s been a big part of our year. It was an unfortunate incident in training. He’s had the operation, it’s gone well so hopefully that gives him time come pre-season to get back into it. We will miss him.”
Udogie’s injury will also see him miss the Euro 2024 tournament with the Italy national team.
The 21-year-old was eligible to play for Nigeria by virtue of his parents but opted to play for Italy, and has since earned three caps.
