F1: 2026 calendar revealed with Madrid Grand Prix entry

F1: Plans for post-season rookie race delayed until 2025

Formula 1 and the International Automobile Federation (FIA) have revealed the calendar for the 2026 season, which will remain 24 races but will feature the all-new Madrid Grand Prix, Afrosport reports.

The campaign will be headlined by different specifications of cars and power units when drivers fire their engines at the first race at the Australian Grand Prix on March 8 before heading to Shanghai for the Chinese Grand Prix a week later.

The Middle East double header in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia will take place on April 12 and 19 due to the Islamic month of Ramadan holding between February and March.

The European stretch of the calendar will begin in Monaco on June 7 and end in Spain at the new Madrid Grand Prix, which will take place on the streets of the Spanish capital on September 13, replacing the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix in Imola.

There will be three triple headers which will come at the end of the season, starting with races in Austin, Mexico City and Sao Paulo and concluding with the Las Vegas, Qatar and Abu Dhabi Grands Prix, the latter taking place on December 6.

Speaking about the 2026 schedule, F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali said: “2026 will be a new era for Formula 1 where we will witness a brand-new set of regulations for our sport, the cars and the engines that will be powered by 100% sustainable fuel.

“We are excited to welcome Madrid to the calendar, and to see huge automotive brands like Audi, Cadillac, and Ford join the Formula 1 grid. It promises to be an unforgettable season, where once again we will come together at 24 amazing global venues to watch the best drivers in the world push themselves to the limit and produce incredible wheel-to-wheel racing for our millions of fans watching around the globe.

“I want to thank all our fans for their passionate support and the FIA, with all the volunteers, marshals and officials, as well as the promoters, partners, sponsors, host cities and the local motor racing federations for their commitment and support in delivering this schedule in what I know will be another historic year for Formula 1.”

The 2026 season will see the arrival of Cadillac as the 11th constructor on the grid, while Sauber will become the Audi works team. Ford will become the engine supplier for Red Bull Racing, and Aston Martin will be powered by Honda engines.
