Napoli have ruled Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen out for their Serie A game against Genoa on Saturday.
Osimhen arrived Italy on Friday after participating at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast where Nigeria finished as runners-up.
The 2023 African Footballer of the Year started individual training on Friday and he will continue the same session on Saturday as Walter Mazzarri’s side prepare for league action.
Osimhen’s last appearance for Napoli was before Christmas and he was sent off in the team’s 2-0 defeat to AS Roma on December 23.
The 25-year-old has scored seven goals in 13 Serie A games so far with Napoli languishing in the 10th spot on the table.
During Osimhen’s absence, Napoli struggled for results having managed just two wins in six league games.
They will hope to bounce back to winning ways against Genoa after last week’s loss to AC Milan and to boost their preparations for their UEFA Champions League round of 16 game against Barcelona on Wednesday.
