Nigeria striker Gift Orban scored his third hat-trick in Gent colours as they ran out with a 4-0 win at Cercle Brugge in the Belgian Pro League championship playoff round on Saturday.
The 20-year-old scored in the previous playoff games against Westerlo and Standard Liege and found the back of the net thrice in the space of 16 minutes in the second half against Cercle Brugge after Hugo Cuypers gave Gent the lead in the first half.
It is the third hat-trick for Orban since joining Gent in January, his previous ones coming against Zulte Waregem with four strikes and against Istanbul Basaksehir in the the first leg of the UEFA Europa Conference round of 16.
Reacting after the game, Orban stated he was hungry for more goals. He said: “Every match is important to me. Three goals enough? Not for me. I want more”
Orban has now scored a total of 14 goals for Gent, five of them in the playoff round and nine during the regular season.
Overall, the former Stabaek FC man has 19 competitive goals in as many games for Gent.
The Buffaloes are top of the championship playoffs with 37 points, seven ahead of second-placed Standard Liege.
