Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has come out in support of his younger teammate Alejandro Garnacho following reports of a potential FA probe into an already deleted social media post made by the Argentine teenager.
Following the Red Devils nail-biting win over Copenhagen in the Champions League at Old Trafford on Wednesday, in which Onana’s stoppage time penalty stop saved United’s blushes and kept their hopes of qualification from the group alive, Garnacho took to his official social media platforms to praise the Cameroonian goalkeeper like all of his other teammates.
However, the United Academy graduate’s post drew serious controversy after it contained a picture of himself, Onana, and some other teammates jubilating and was captioned with two gorilla emojis.
The 19-year-old winger deleted the post less than an hour later, but reports around the Premier League suggest the Football Association is aware of the post and has called for his insights on it.
Onana, however, has come out in full support of Garnacho with a post of his across his official social media platforms on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter).
People cannot choose what I should be offended by.
I know exactly what @agarnacho7 meant: power & strength.
This matter should go no further.

The former Ajax and Inter Milan shotstopper uploaded the same picture the youngster used and another showing the two of them in a tight embrace with the caption, which read:
“People cannot choose what I should be offended by. I know exactly what @agarnacho7 meant: power & strength.”
“This matter should go no further.”
It is left to see what the FA will come up with, but Erik Ten Hag’s men have a stern test at the weekend when they welcome city rivals Manchester City to Old Trafford for the first Manchester derby of the season.
