Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna has called off the planned transfer of Victor Osimhen to Galatasaray on a permanent basis next summer, Afrosport reports.
The reigning Africa Player of the Year has scored eight goals with four assists in nine appearances for the Turkish Super Lig champions this season after he sealed a season-long loan deal in September.
Manna claims the Yellow and Reds cannot afford the €75m buyout clause in Osimhen’s contract.
“Our door is closed to negotiations. Galatasaray does not have the budget to pay this amount at this moment. The fee is €75 million, and many teams want Osimhen. They are ready to pay this amount,” Manna said, per Webaslan.
The news comes as a boost for Fernabache, who is preparing to challenge Galatasaray for the Super Eagles star signature as both clubs are plotting €50 million bids for Osimhen, which is €25 million below the fee that Napoli bought him four years ago.
Meanwhile, the 25-year-old striker is currently with the Super Eagles team as they prepare for their Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Rwanda and Benin Republic.
