Michael Olise scored the winning goal as Bayern Munich defeated Boca Juniors 2-1 in Miami Gardens on Friday to book their place in the round of 16 of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, Afrosport reports.
The Bavarian giants recorded a massive 10-0 win over Auckland City in their Group C opener while Boca drew 2-2 with Benfica, both sides finishing with 10 men on the pitch.
Olise thought he put his team in front at the Hard Rock Stadium after eight minutes but his effort was ruled out for a foul in the build up.
Bayern were however not going to be denied nine minutes later when talisman Harry Kane pounced on a lose ball to finish in cool fashion.
The lead remained in favour of Vincent Kompany’s side until the 66th minute when Miguel Merentiel equalised for Boca.
Just when it seemed the Buenos Aires heavyweights were going to earn another draw against an European powerhouse, Olise netted the winner for Bayern with six minutes left after he was nicely set up by Kane.
Two wins on the bounce and @FCBayern are into the #FIFACWC Round of 16! 👏
