Oscar Piastri finished ahead of Lando Norris to win the Chinese Grand Prix for a McLaren 1-2 while Lewis Hamilton was disqualified for Ferrari, Afrosport reports.
Piastri controlled the 56-lap race at the Shanghai International Circuit from start to finish to bounce back from the disappointing home race in Australia last week.
Winner in Melbourne, Norris reduced the gap to Piastri in the closing stages after encountering a brake problem which saw him come under threat from George Russell. The second McLaren was however able to finish 1.349 seconds clear of the lead Mercedes.
Reigning world champion Max Verstappen finished in fourth place ahead of Ferrari duo Charles Leclerc and Hamilton who were disqualified from the race for their car being underweight and with excessive skid wear respectively.
Pierre Gasly was also disqualified from 11th after his car was deemed to be underweight during post-race checks.
The disqualification of Leclerc, Hamilton and Gasly meant Esteban Ocon moved from seventh to fifth while Mercedes rookie Andrea Kimi Antonelli moved up to sixth, Alex Albon seventh and Haas rookie Oliver Bearman eighth.
Lance Stroll and Carlos Sainz also profited from Gasly’s disqualification to complete the points finish in ninth and 10th respectively, the latter’s first point for his new team, Williams.
