‘Extra bit sweet’ – Harry Kane reflects on winning first career trophy

UCL: PSG edge Arsenal to reach second-ever final

Harry Kane has described the feeling of winning the first trophy of his prolific career as “extra bit sweet” after lifting the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich, Afrosport reports.

Kane has enjoyed a career laden with goals as the all-time top scorer of Tottenham Hotspur (280 goals) and the England national team (71 goals), winning lots of individual accolades along the way.

A major trophy had however eluded the 31-year-old after reaching the EFL Cup and Champions League final with Tottenham and the Euro 2020 final with England.

Kane also lost out on all major silverware in his first season at Bayern but all changed at the weekend and when the 3-3 draw at RB Leipzig was enough to hand the Bavarian giants their 34th Bundesliga title after Bayer Leverkusen’s 2-2 draw at Freiburg.

”It feels good, it feels amazing to be honest. A lot of hard work, a lot of dedication throughout the season, and to have this reward now is special,” said Kane, who was suspended for the Leipzig game for yellow card accumulation.

“It’s a special group of players, the staff. Obviously, my first one [trophy] in my career, so it feels that extra bit sweet. It was a good celebration [after the game] and I’m sure there’ll be a few more to come over the next weeks.”

Kane is the leading Bundesliga scorer this season with 24 goals in 29 games and 36 goals in 44 competitive matches.

Bayern will end their campaign with league games Borussia Monchengladbach and Hoffenheim.
