Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has refused to be drawn into the club’s rumoured interest in Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, Afrosport reports.
The Englishman is out of contract at the end of the season leading to speculation that the Santiago Bernabeu will be his destination in the summer.
Ancelotti was however not ready to shed light on the rumours when asked ahead of Madrid’s Champions League clash with Liverpool on Wednesday.
“I’m sorry but I can’t think about Alexander-Arnold. He’s not my player. I have a good memory of [managing] Everton,” he said.
“I consider Liverpool as usual with a lot of respect. It’s a fantastic club. Fantastic supporters. But, I’m still an Evertonian.”
Reflecting on the fixture which will be the seventh between both sides since 2018, Ancelotti added: “Real Madrid and Liverpool are two historic clubs in this competition. Each club has their own characteristics of their team.
“We’ll have to see who has the character and personality to show it on the pitch. Liverpool has always been a very competitive team and very dangerous during the era with [Jurgen] Klopp and now as well with the new coach [Arne Slot].”
