Rodrygo Goes and Thibaut Courtois will both be unavailable for the classico against Barcelona after picking up Muscle injuries during the victory against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday, Afrosport reports.
The Spanish club released a statement on Wednesday that Courtois sustained a muscle strain in his left adductor in the Champions League game against Dortmund on Wednesday.
The Belgium international has previously experienced exactly the same injury during the Madrid Derby against Atletico Madrid last month.
“Following tests carried out on our player Thibaut Courtois by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an adductor injury in his left leg. His progress will be monitored,” a medical report from the club stated.
Meanwhile, Rodrygo is expected to undergo an MRI scan to know the state of his injury, which will determine how long the forward will spend on the sidelines. However, the club feels it is a minor setback and he should be back for the Valencia game next week.
The 23-year-old Brazilian in 13 matches this season has scored three goals and provided two assists, while Courtois has conceded 10 goals and kept four clean sheets in 12 games for Los Blancos this campaign.
Nonetheless, Rodrygo and Courtois are not the only unavailable Madrid players as captain Dani Carvajal and David Alaba are still out due to ACL injuries, but there is positive news as Moroccan midfielder Brahim Diaz has resumed training this week after being sidelined for a while.
Real Madrid and Barcelona will face off in a top-of-the-table clash in the first El Clasico of the season at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday, October 26.
