Samuel Akere scored a goal and provided an assist as Botev Plovdiv defeated Spartak Varna 2-1 in the Bulgarian Cup quarter-finals on Tuesday.
The 20-year-old Nigerian scored in the previous round against Etar, coming of the bench to net the final goal in a 4-2 win.
Akere opened proceedings against Botev Plovdiv in the 20th minute before assisting Ivelin Popov for the second goal in the 72nd minute. It was the G12 FC Academy graduate’s second cup goal of the season and his sixth of the season in all competitions coupled with four assists.

Ahmed Ahemdov scored the consolation goal for Spartak Varna in the 87th minute.
Botev Plovdiv occupy seventh spot on the Bulgarian Parva Liga table and will be in action against Slavia Sofia on Saturday.
