The Falconets of Nigeria started their outing at the WAFU Zone B U-20 Women’s Championship with a comfortable 7-0 thrashing of Niger Republic on Sunday.
Christopher Danjuma’s ladies stamped their authority at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi with three goals in the first-half.
Esther Akajaye opened the scoring as early as in the fourth minute and added a second in the 13th minute before Mercy Kalu made it 3-0 on the half-hour mark.
The goal-fest continued immediately after the restart with Adoabi Okah scoring from the spot-kick in the 49th minute while Akajaye completed her hat-trick, six minutes later.
In the 64th minute, Victoria Alani made it 5-0 with a sensational goal and Chioma Olise put the icing on the cake in the 91st minute of stoppage time with a clinical finish.
In the other results, Burkina Faso triumphed over Togo by 2-0 while Ghana pumelled Benin 3-0.
The Falconets will return to action on Wednesday when they face Togo for their Group B match.
