Bayern Munich got the better of Flamengo as they recorded a 4-2 win to progress into the quarter-finals of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, Afrosport reports.
Flamengo were one of the standout teams in the group stage as they finished ahead of Chelsea in Group D while Bayern finished second behind Benfica in Group C.
The Bavarians started in lightning fashion at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens as they were 2-0 up nine minutes courtesy of an Erick Pulgar own goal and a Harry Kane strike.
Flamengo pulled one back in the 33rd minute via a fierce strike from Gerson, but Bayern were ahead 3-1 through Leon Goretzka’s long-range strike.
Filipe Luis’ men were not keen to give up easily and reduced the deficit in the 55th minute when new signing Jorginho converted from the penalty spot after Michael Olise was adjudged to have handled Giorgian de Arrascaeta’s delivery into the box.
Vincent Kompany’s side, however, had the last say with Kane completing his brace in the 73rd minute.
