European football governing body UEFA have opened an investigation into four Real Madrid players over “indecent conduct” in the Champions League last 16 against city rivals, Atletico Madrid, Afrosport reports.
Star forwards Vinicius Junior, Kylian Mbappe, Antonio Rudiger and Dani Ceballos all face potential punishment for gestures they made during the tie.
According to Spanish media, Aleti reported the incident to UEFA last week, and the quartet could potentially miss the quarter-final first leg against Arsenal in a fortnight.
“[An] ethics and disciplinary inspector has been appointed to investigate allegations of indecent conduct” made by the four Real Madrid players,” UEFA said in a statement.
“Further information regarding this matter will be made available in due course.”
Real Madrid won their round of 16 tie against Atletico Madrid 4-2 on penalties after the game ended 2-2 on aggregate.
