The Tunisia U-20 national were able to book their place of the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup despite losing 1-0 to Uruguay in their final Group E while The Gambia played out a goalless draw with South Korea and finished top of Group F.
The Carthage Eagles came into their final game against the Uruguayans on the back of a 3-0 win over Iraq last time out and failed to replicate such performance as Danubio youngster Franco Gonzalez scored the only goal of the game in Mendoza.
Tunisia finished third in Group E but were able to claim one of the four spots for the best third-placed teams behind Nigeria, New Zealand and ahead of France and Japan by virtue of a superior goal difference.
