Turkish Super Lig: Nigeria’s Osayi-Samuel, Dele-Bashiru on target for Fenerbahce & Hatayspor

Bright Osayi-Samuel scored his first goal of the Turkish Super Lig season as Fenerbahce recorded a 1-0 win over Ankaragucu on Sunday while Fisayo Dele-Bashiru netted in Hatayspor’s 3-3 draw with Adana Demirspor.

Osayi-Samuel was making a return to the Fenerbahce squad since the opening day of the season against Gaziantep and missed the next game against Samsunspor due to injury while the clash with rivals Istanbul Basaksehir was postponed.

Fenerbahce have a 100% competitive record so far this season and Osayi-Samuel ensured it remained intact with his sublime goal on the hour mark from a tight angle off an assist from former Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko. It was his first goal since the 2021-22 season and fourth for the club since he joined from Queens Park Rangers in 2020.

Dele-Bashiru meanwhile scored his third Hatayspor goal in the pulsating draw with Adana Demirspor. The latter had taken the lead via Senegal forward Cherif Ndiaye in the first half but the former raced to a 3-1 second half lead thanks to Carlos Strandberg’s brace and Dele-Bashiru’s composed effort in the 75th minute that was set up by Strandberg.

It was Dele-Bashiru’s third goal for Hatayspor after his brace on his debut on the opening day of the season at Pendikspor. The 22-year-old Nigerian joined as a free agent from Sheffield Wednesday in the summer.

Adana Demirspor were able to find their way back with Andrew Gravillion and Rayane Aabid (own goal) scoring in the closing six minutes.
