Crystal Palace have signed goalkeeper Walter Benitez on a free transfer and will join the club on July 1 after the expiration of his contract with PSV Eindhoven, Afrosport reports.
The 32-year-old Argentine shot stopper featured 134 times across three seasons for PSV, keeping a total of 43 clean sheets, helping them win back-to-back Eredivisie titles in 2024 and 2025 as well as the Dutch Cup in 2023 and two Johan Cruyff Shields in 2022 and 2023.
His arrival comes as Crystal Palace embark on their first-ever European adventure in the Europa League after winning last season’s FA Cup.
Benitez has played 27 times for PSV in the UEFA Champions League, including in the previous campaign, while he has been called up in 10 of Argentina’s last 12 international fixtures, earning his first cap in a 3-1 friendly win over Costa Rica last March.
Speaking on his signing, Palace Chairman Steve Parish said: “Walter is an excellent addition to our squad, bringing further quality, experience and competition to our goalkeeping department alongside Dean and Remi.
“We look forward to welcoming Walter to South London next month as we continue our preparations towards what promises to be a busy season, competing on multiple fronts, in 2025/26.”

Benitez will slug it out for a starting spot between the sticks for Palace with Jordan Henderson. His signing comes after New York Jets co-owner Robert Wood Johnson signed the legal documents to own a 43% stake in the club’s parent company, Eagle Football Holdings Limited.
