Super Falcons unchanged in latest FIFA rankings, remain No. 1 in Africa

Nigeria’s Super Falcons have maintained their previous position in the latest rankings released by the world football governing body, FIFA, on Friday, Afrosport reports.

The nine-time African champions held on to their 36th position in the world, which means they will end the year as the top-ranked African team.

The Super Falcons have held on to the position since the FIFA rankings released in March, and currently have 1622.49 total points.

Reigning African champions South Africa (now 53rd) dropped three places in the latest rankings, but maintained their second spot in Africa. Morocco dropped two places into 61st in the world, while Zambia (62nd) and Ghana (66th) made up the top five in Africa.

Cameroon (68th), Ivory Coast (71st), Tunisia (78th), Mali (81st) and Equatorial Guinea (82nd) complete the continent’s top 10.

Meanwhile, four-time world champions and Paris Olympics gold medallist, the United States of America, have held on to the top spot in the world rankings.

Reigning World champions Spain are second, followed by Germany, England, Sweden, Canada, Brazil, Japan, North Korea and the Netherlands.
