Napoli announce arrival of ex-Manchester City star De Bruyne

Napoli have announced the arrival of Kevin de Bruyne after he was released by Manchester City, Afrosport reports.

The Belgian midfielder’s contract with the Citizens will expire at the end of the month but has been released early to enable him join the reigning Serie A champions.

He leaves City having won 19 titles, including six Premier League titles and in 2023 the Champions League, scoring 108 goals and providing 177 assists in 422 competitive games.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis posted a picture on social media shaking hands with the 33-year-old with the message: ‘Welcome Kevin!’

De Bruyne has reportedly signed a two-year deal with Napoli with the option further year and will team up compatriot Romelu Lukaku and last season’s Serie A MVP Scott McTominay.


His addition will help bolster the Partenopei as they look to defend the Scudetto next season and participate in the revamped UEFA Champions League.

Antonio Conte’s side lifted their fourth league title and second in two years by finishing one point ahead of Inter Milan, with the title decided on the final day of the 2024-25 season.
