Former Nigeria international Brown Ideye has encouraged Napoli striker Victor Osimhen to consider the financial reward he would get if he joins Al Ahli this summer.
Al Ahli have reportedly offered Napoli a lucrative transfer fee of €80m, with add-ons to ward off challenge from Chelsea and lure the 2023 African Footballer of the Year to the Middle East.
With regards to personal terms, the Saudi club are offering Osimhen a net salary of €25-30m per season net which is over 50 billion naira.
The transfer offer has got social media buzzing, however, Ideye who was part of the Nigeria squad that lifted the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, has advised Osimhen to consider the money and his future after football with the offer on the table.
Ideye tweeted: “They have offered little brother one refinery. How many of you remember the names of all the players that brought glory to this nation called Nigeria?
“If I have these options on my table I’m going for the bag fast, my agent won’t even stop me. Some of you guys know nothing about football, if it is not bet9ja some won’t know which teams Nigerian players play for.
“When I see some of our leaders today, I have tears in my eyes. Some don’t even remember the names of all the players that won the AFCON 2013. Forget what you read or what you see on social media, not every Nigerian footballer abroad has a good salary after tax.
“No one will pay you pension after football. Your pension is what you save when playing.
“What I’m saying at large is every player wishes to play in one of the big clubs in Europe and win trophies, but the goal is after football you want to be comfortable and the only way that can happen is making good money while playing.”
Osimhen has been at the centre of transfer rumours this summer after submitting a transfer request to Napoli during their pre-season training.
As a result of his uncertain future, he has been frozen out of Antonio Conte’s team and he missed their opening two Serie A games.
