Saka & Rashford lead Premier League stars in Football Black List

Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka, Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling, and Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford joined Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira as the Premier League stars to make the football blacklist for 2022.

The blacklist is “an initiative to highlight the most influential black figures in the game of football.”

Saka, Sterling, and Rashford were the only players on the list, while former Arsenal midfielder Vieira, who is the only black coach in the Premier League, was named alongside Burnley coach Vincent Kompany.

On the list put out on Thursday, Deji Davies, the non-executive director at Brentford and the only black person on the board of a Premier League club, is joined by former footballer and Queens Park Rangers sporting director Les Ferdinard, the only black director of football, and also FA Board member Jobi McAnuff.

The Football Black List, established in 2008 by sports journalists Leon Mann and Rodney Hinds, accentuates individuals from the black population working and striving across all areas of football.
