Super Eagles star Victor Osimhen was on target twice as Galatasaray defeated Trabzonspor 3-0 in the final of the Turkish Cup on Wednesday, Afrosport reports.
The Istanbul giants defeated Konyaspor 5-1 in the semi-finals with Osimhen scoring the third goal.
On the occasion of the final, Baris Yilmaz put Gala ahead after five minutes off an assist from Yunus Akgun.
The scoreline remained 1-0 to the Yellow-Reds until the start of the second half when Akgun found Osimhen who clinically tucked the ball in from a tight angle.
Akgun was at it again as he found Osimhen in the 63rd minute, the Napoli loanee with a composed finish.
It took the 2023 African Player of the Year to 35 goals in 39 competitive outings this season, coupled with eight assists.
He also became the first foreign player for Galatasaray to score twice in the Turkish Cup final.
The 26-year-old is also the highest-scoring foreigner in the club’s history, surpassing Brazilian Mario Jardel’s tally of 34 goals during the 2000-01 season.

One-time capped Super Eagles forward Anthony Nwakaeme thought he had scored a consolation goal for Trabzonspor in the 74th minute but his effort was ruled out for offside by VAR.
Galatasaray have now won a 19th Turkish Cup title, the most by any club, and have won each of their last eight final appearances, suffering defeat last in 1998 to Istanbul rivals Besiktas on penalties across two legs.
Okan Buruk’s side are currently eight points clear of fierce rivals Fenerbahce on the Turkish Super Lig table with three games left. They could seal a record-extending 25th title if they beat Kayserispor on Sunday.
