San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama and Detroit Pistons guard Cade Cunningham have been named the NBA Players of the Week for Week 9 of the 2024-25 season, Afrosport reports.

Wembanyama led San Antonio to a 2-0 record in the week under review to win the Western Conference Player of the Week award for the first time in his NBA career.
The 20-year-old averaged 36.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 7.0 blocks per game across two games as the Spurs recorded wins over the Atlanta Hawks and Portland Trail Blazers.
Wembanyama is currently averaging 24.8 points, 9.9 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 4.0 blocks per game while shooting 47.7% from the floor and 35.6% from beyond the arc across 24 games this season.

Meanwhile, Cunningham was rewarded with the Eastern Conference Player of the Week honours, the first of his career.
The 23-year-old led Detroit to a 2-1 week, averaging 27.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 12.7 assists per game in the week under review covering 16-22 December.
Cunningham helped the Pistons to victories over the Miami Heat and Phoenix Suns. Across 26 games this season, the former No. 1 pick is averaging 23.9 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 9.7 assists.
