MLS: Alhassan Yusuf scores first-ever New England Revolution goal in epic draw

Super Eagles midfielder Alhassan Yusuf scored his first-ever goal in Major League Soccer for New England Revolution in Saturday’s epic 3-3 draw with Orlando City, Afrosport reports.

Orlando raced to a 2-0 lead after 33 minutes thanks to a brace from Argentina forward Martin Ojeda but the Revolution pulled one back when Yusuf tucked in a loose ball that fell to his path in the 38th minute.

It follows up on the Nigerian’s first goal involvement of the season in the Revolution’s previous game when he provided an assist for Leonardo Campana in the 2-0 win at Toronto FC.

Matt Polster levelled the game for New England in the 44th minute but Orlando were back in front in the 55th minute when Ojeda scored from the penalty spot to complete his hat-trick.

Spanish playmaker Carles Gil however equalised from the spot for the Revs in the 85th minute to hand them a share of the spoils.

Caleb Porter’s side are ninth in the Eastern Conference standings, one point and place behind Orlando, and one point from an automatic spot into the conference playoffs.
