Manchester United and England defender Harry Maguire has revealed that he will be sidelined for “a few weeks” after sustaining an injury during United’s 0-0 Premier League draw against Aston Villa on Sunday, Afrosport reports.
Maguire, who was substituted at half-time and later seen leaving Villa Park in a protective boot, expressed his frustration over the injury on Instagram, vowing to come back stronger.
“Frustrated to pick up at the weekend, will be a few weeks on the sideline for me but I’ll come back stronger,” the former Leicester City player said on his Instagram Stories.
The 31-year-old was left out of interim England manager Lee Carsley’s squad for the upcoming Nations League matches against Greece and Finland.
This setback follows a period of inconsistency for Maguire, who had missed Euro 2024 due to a calf problem.
So far this season, he has made nine appearances for United, including scoring in their 3-3 Europa League draw against Porto last Thursday.
United’s next fixture is a home match against Brentford on October 19, but Maguire is unlikely to feature as he begins his recovery.
