Karim Adeyemi nets hat-trick in emphatic Dortmund UCL win over Celtic

Karim Adeyemi scored a first half hat-trick as Borussia Dortmund made light work of Scottish powerhouse Celtic in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night with a 7-1 trashing at Signal Iduna Park, Afrosport reports.

Germany international Emre Can gave Dortmund the lead from the spot in the third minute after Jamie Bynoe-Gittens was brought down in the box, but the lead barely lasted as they were pegged back by Japan international Daizen Maeda, who scored his second goal in a many matches.

Adeyemi quickly restored his side’s lead in the 11th minute using his electric pace to ghost past his marker, then made it 3-1 in the 29th minute with a rocket of a strike before Guinea international forward Serhou Guirassy made it 4-1 from the spot.

Karim Adeyemi completed his hat-trick two minutes later with another thunderous effort to seal an emphatic first-half display from the home side.

The Black and Yellows were not done yet after the resumption as Guirassy got his second of the night, and his first brace for Dortmund.

Any hopes of Celtic putting up a fight were quickly extinguished as substitute Felix Nmecha hit the final nail on the coffin with the seventh goal to send their home fans into a frenzy.

Up next for Dortmund is a repeat of last season’s final as they take on Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Brendan Rodgers, meanwhile, will have to improve on his Celtic side following the humbling as they next take on a tough opponent, Atalanta, in Bergamo.
