Iwobi: Marco Silva responds to cyberbulling after AFCON 2023 final

”Napoli did not intend to hurt Osimhen’ – Coach Garcia speaks out

Fulham manager Marco Silva says Alex Iwobi is in the best shape mentally after he was subject of cyberbulling after Nigeria’s loss to Ivory Coast at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final.

The 27-year-old came under heavy criticism and abuse from online users which led him to delete all the content on his Instagram account.

Despite the defeat, Silva is of the view that the Super Eagles did well during the tournament.

“He’s very good mentally. Alex is a happy boy when he’s on the pitch doing what he loves. If you lose a game, you lose a game together. They [Nigeria] did brilliantly until the final,” Silva said ahead of Fulham’s Premier League clash with Aston Villa on Saturday.

Iwobi played every game at AFCON 2023 totalling 576 minutes.

The former Arsenal player last featured for Fulham when they defeated the Gunners at Craven Cottage on December 31 and could back in action this weekend along with his compatriot Calvin Bassey.
