Eberechi Eze registered his first goal contribution for Arsenal in a 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest on their return to Premier League action after the international break, Afrosport reports.
The England international made his first start for the Gunners, who lost captain Martin Odegaard to a niggling shoulder injury inside the opener 18 minutes. The Norwegian, however, was replaced by 18-year-old Ethan Nwaneri.
Arsenal got off the mark from an unlikely source, as Martin Zubimendi broke the deadlock for the hosts with a thumping volley. Forest cleared a corner from Noni Madueke, but the ball fell kindly to Zubimendi, who fired home a brilliant strike past Matz Sels.
Mikel Arteta’s men doubled their lead inside the first minute of the second half, with Eze finding Viktor Gyokeres for a simple tap-in. The former Sporting forward took his season tally to three goals in four games.

Forest came close to halving the deficit shortly after Arsenal’s second goal. Chris Wood’s inadvertent attempt with his chest beat David Raya but was repelled by the crossbar in what was a frustrating afternoon for Ange Postecoglou in his first game in charge.
Gyokeres almost made it three for the Gunners but his close-range striker ricocheted off the post. Following a sweeping move by the hosts, the Swedish forward combined quickly with Madueke, but his resulting strike from a tight angle failed to find the net.
Zubimendi headed home the third in the 79th minute, after connecting with a cross from substitute Leandro Trossard to complete the victory for Arsenal.
Arteta’s men confidently bounced back from their disappointing defeat at Anfield and return to the top of the Premier League table temporarily. They will now turn their focus to Champions League, with a trip to take on Athletic Bilbao at San Mames in their opener on Tuesday.
