Doncic & Porzingis named NBA Players of the Week

Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic and Washington Wizards center Kristaps Porzingis have been named as the Western Conference and Eastern Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for Week 11.

The 23-year-old Slovenia superstar had the best week of his NBA career, averaging 48.7 points, 13 rebounds, and 10.7 assists during a three-game winning streak for the Mavericks.

Doncic scored 50 or more points twice, with a 51-point game against the San Antonio Spurs on New Year’s Day and a historic franchise record 60-point triple-double against the New York Knicks.

In the game against the Knicks, Doncic added 21 rebounds and 10 assists as he scored his career-high points and rebounds, securing the first 60-20-10 game in NBA history.

At the American Airlines Center against the Houston Rockets, he had his eighth triple-double of the season with 35 points, 13 assists, and 12 rebounds.

This is Doncic’s second-straight Player of the Week award and the eighth of his NBA career. The 3-time All-Star is averaging 34.3 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 8.9 assists for the season.

Latvian center Porzingis helped lead the Wizards to an undefeated 4-0 week while averaging 24.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks.

He had his best game against the Orlando Magic with 30 points, 13 rebounds, and four blocks. He also managed another double-double against the high-flying Philadelphia 76ers with 24 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 blocks.

Porzingis has 12 double-doubles and 55 blocks this season. He is averaging 22.2 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks in 34 games for the Wizards this season.

This is his third Player of the Week award and his first since March 2020, while he was playing for the Dallas Mavericks.
