Babangida: NFF visits injured ex-Super Eagles star after tragic crash

The leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has paid a condolence visit to former Super Eagles and Ajax star, Tijani Babangida who was involved in a deadly car accident on Thursday.

The NFF delegation, led by President Ibrahim Gusau, visited Babangida in an Abuja hospital as he continues his recovery from injuries in the accident.

The accident happened along the Kaduna-Zaria road in Kaduna State but the 50-year-old President of the the Professional Footballers Association of Nigeria (PFAN) was transferred to Abuja for surgery which he has undergone.

The country’s football governing body also joined the 1996 Olympics gold medallist in mourning the loss of his younger brother and his one-year-old son who passed away after the accident.

Babangida wife was also involved in the accident and she is reported to have undergone facial surgery to treat injuries she sustained but she is still in the intensive care unit of the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital in Zaria.

 The NFF President was joined by General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, NFF Executive member, Timothy Magaji and NFF technical director, Augustine Eguavoen.

Others are NPFL board member, Mr. Jude Anyadufu; former Nigeria international and Chairman, Bauchi State Football Association, Mr. Pascal Patrick; former Nigeria goalkeeper Emmanuel Babayaro; former Nigeria international, Mr. Austin Popo; prominent football stakeholder, Alhaji Abubakar Danfulani and; former Nigeria international and special assistant to NFF President, Mallam Nasiru Jibril.
