Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has called on the club to recruit players like Ayden Heaven, Afrosport reports.
The 18-year-old has won the hearts of fans since making his debut in the FA Cup fifth round loss at home to Fulham before going on to impress on his Premier League debut against his former club Arsenal.
Heaven, who was a winter signing, then suffered a foot injury in a 3-0 league win at Leicester City in March which sidelined him for 10 competitive games before making his return in the final 10 minutes of the 1-0 defeat at Chelsea almost a fortnight ago.
He started the final game of the season on Sunday against Aston Villa and put in a good shift as United won 2-0.
Amorim reflecting on the young English defender’s presence in the team told the club website: “I think once again Jason Wilcox is doing a great job bringing Ayden,”
“I think these types of players are what we need. He showed a lot of quality and character after the big injury.
“We want these types of players.”
Manchester United finished the Premier League season in 15th place, their lowest finish since 1990 when they ended 13th in the old English Football League.
They also lost to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final last week, making it first time they failed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League in back-to-back seasons in the post-Alex Ferguson era.
The United squad are currently on a post-season tour of Malaysia and will take on the ASEAN All Stars team before rounding things up against Hong Kong on Friday.
