Al-Nassr terminate Aboubakar’s contract for Ronaldo

Cameroon bow out in style after historic victory against Brazil

Vincent Aboubakar has had his contract with Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr terminated, giving space for Superstar signing Cristiano Ronaldo to be registered with the squad.

The Portuguese maestro was recently unveiled as a new player for the Riyadh outfit which has since generated a lot of publicity, something that had reflected in Al-Nassr’s social media accounts growing astronomically since he was announced officially.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo is currently serving a two-game suspension he received last November for his violent behaviour towards an Everton fan.

Al-Nassr’s roster for non-Saudi players was already filled up with the maximum quota of nine players as allowed by the Saudi Pro League before Ronaldo’s arrival, and to make way for him, Aboubakar had to end his time at Mrsool Park .

The Cameroon foward has been on Al-Nassr’s books since 2021 when he joined from Besiktas. In his almost two years in the Arabian gulf, Aboubakar scored 13 goals and provided six assists in 39 appearances, including four goals this season.

As a free agent now, Aboubakar will be the interest of a couple of clubs during the ongoing January transfer window with Manchester United rumoured to be considering him as a short-term option.

The Red Devils have been opting for a forward since Ronaldo terminated his deal back in November after he made damming remarks about the club’s hierarchy and personnel.
