Ghana international Mohammed Kudus has been nominated for the December Player of the Month award in the Premier League.
The 23-year-old, who has been integral to West Ham United’s success this season, has been shortlisted alongside seven other Premier League stars that shone in the league in the final month of 2023.
Kudus, who scored four goals for the Hammers in the month of December, helping them to four wins, a draw, and a loss in six games, will face a huge battle from Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, Michael Olise (Crystal Palace), Matheus Cunha (Wolves), Cole Palmer (Chelsea), Marcos Senesi, and Dominic Solanke (both for Bournemouth), as well as Tottenham Hotspurs’ South Korean forward Son Heung-Min.

The former Ajax man, who is currently with the Ghanaian national team ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, scored in West Ham’s 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace early in December. The Black Stars midfielder witnessed a two-game drought before banging a brace in their 3-0 win over Wolves and scoring a sublime goal in their 2-0 home win against Manchester United.
Kudus’ brilliance helped David Moyes’ men climb to sixth in the league standings with 34 points after 20 games. He has nine goals and an assist in 24 games for West Ham in all competitions this season, including six goals and an assist in 16 Premier League games.
The Hammers were without Kudus in the first game of 2024 when they played out a goalless draw against Brighton and Hove Albion, and they will be without the talismanic left-footed midfielder for at least four more league games if Ghana go out all the way in the AFCON, which is slated to begin on January 13.
