Burnley have completed the signing of DR Congo centre-back Axel Tuanzebe on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with Ipswich Town, Afrosport reports.
Tuanzebe was instrumental in the Tractor Boys’ promotion to the Premier League for for the first time in two decades during the 2023-24 Championship season.
The 27-year-old made 22 top-flight appearances last season but his impact was not enough as Ipswich suffered the agony of immediate relegation back to the Championship after finishing 19th.
Tuanzebe has reportedly signed a one-year deal at Turf Moor and becomes head coach Scott Parker’s third summer signing.
“I’m delighted to be here,” he told the club website. “It became a very simple decision after speaking to the manager and the message was very clear, precise and straight to the point.
“It’s a new chapter for me, back in the vicinity of Manchester and home and I’m ready to continue my journey now at Burnley.”

Tuanzebe began his senior career with Manchester United and was an England age-group international before switching his allegiance to his native DR Congo.
He has won three caps for the Leopards and is likely to feature at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco in December.
