The 22-year-old sustained the injury with less than six minutes left in the Rockets’ 146-117 rout of the New Orleans Pelicans at Toyota Center in Houston.
The fourth overall pick in the 2023 draft fell on a shot attempt and limped off the court in a game he fell just one rebound short of a triple-double, having had 15 points, 11 assists, and nine rebounds.
Thompson is averaging 14.0 points, 8.3 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1.3 blocks in 60 games (33 starts) this season, while shooting 55.3% from the floor and 25.6% on 3-pointers.
The Rockets (39-25), fifth in the Western Conference, are up against the Orlando Magic (30-35) next on Monday.
