Deadline Day: Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen nearing Al Ahli move from Napoli

Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen is close to joining Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli from Napoli, Afrosport reports.

The Saudi club has reportedly agreed a deal worth around €80 million with Napoli for the transfer of the Nigerian, who has made his desire to leave the Naples club very clear throughout this summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old reigning African footballer of the year has also been reportedly offered a four-year contract by Al-Ahli, which includes a release clause and an annual net salary of around €40 million.

Osimhen has been touted by a number of clubs this summer, with French champions Paris Saint-Germain and Premier League club Chelsea also interested in acquiring the services of the prolific forward.

However, barring any last minute changes, the Nigerian is expected to undergo a medical with Al Ahli on deadline day to finalise his move to Saudi Arabia.

He joined Napoli from Lille in 2020, and since his arrival at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, he has scored 76 goals and provided 18 assists in 133 matches, including 65 league goals.

Osimhen led Napoli to a Serie A triumph in the 2022–23 season, their first title in 33 years, winning the Golden Boot as the league’s top scorer with 26 goals, becoming the first African to win the Capocannoniere award.
