F1: Mercedes unveil 2023 car launch date

Mercedes has become the latest Formula 1 team to announce the launch of its car ahead of the 2023 season, confirming February 15 as the date it will reveal the W14.

The German manufacturer will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing 2022 campaign where it finished third in the constructors’ championship behind Red Bull and Ferrari after struggling with pace and other aerodynamic issues.

George Russell was still able to produce one race win for the team, dominating in the sprint race and main race at Sao Paolo Grand Prix in Brazil.

“We’re excited to confirm the launch date of our 2023 Formula One car, the Mercedes-AMG F1 W14 E PERFORMANCE,” a statement read on the team website.

“Forged from the challenges of the testing 2022 campaign with the W13, which forced the team to confront and overcome numerous challenges, the W14 builds on the lessons learned last year.

“The progress enabled by the efforts and determination of everyone at Brackley and Brixworth helped achieve stronger results from mid-season onwards, culminating in a 1-2 finish at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.”

Mercedes’ car launch will take place the day after Ferrari’s (February 14 ) and the day before Alpine’s unveiling (February 16).

These three along with Williams, AlphaTauri, Aston Martin and McLaren, are the other constructors to unveil their car launch dates with pre-season testing taking place in Bahrain from February 23 to 25 before the season proper kicks off at the same venue on March 5.
