Former captain of the Nigeria under-17 men’s team, Yahaya Lawali, scored his second goal in the colours of MFK Karvina on Saturday in a 2-1 win against Sigma Olomouc’s Under-19 side, Afrosport reports.
The full-back, who was deployed in an advanced role, also had an assist in the game, as he put up a Man-of-the-Match performance.
Lawali, who recently joined the Czech Republic top-tier team from Abuja-based Mahanaim FC on a four-year deal, scored his first goal against Banik Ostrava, a solitary effort that earned his side all maximum points.
In the game against Banik, Lawali who won two Man-of-the match awards at the 2023 U17 Africa Cup of Nations in Algeria, started the game as a defensive midfielder, before he was moved into an attacking midfield position where he was able to rescue his side with a goal.
Lawali will be looking forward to more playing time with the team, with the aim of forcing his way into Karvina’s senior side.
