NBA: Pelicans acquire Poole, Wizards get McCollum in two-team trade

The New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday reportedly agreed to trade veteran guard CJ McCollum, Kelly Olynyk and a future second-round pick to the Washington Wizards, Afrosport reports.

The Pelicans, meanwhile, will receive guard Jordan Poole and forward Saddiq Bey, while sending the Wizards their 40th overall pick in the second round of the 2025 NBA Draft, scheduled to take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Thursday, 26 June.

McCollum, who just concluded his 12th season in the NBA, secures a move to his third team after averaging 21.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game in 56 appearances for New Orleans last season.

Olynyk, meanwhile, averaged 10.7 points and 5.9 rebounds in 20 games for the Pelicans since joining from the Toronto Raptors in February. The 34-year-old Canadian joins his eighth team in the league.

The Pelicans get Poole, who won an NBA Championship with the Golden State Warriors in 2022. He led Washington in scoring last season, averaging 20.5 points, 3.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.3 steals per game in 68 contests.

Bey, unlike Poole, missed the entire 2024-25 season due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his left knee.

Heading into this year’s NBA Draft, the Pelicans hold the No. 7 and No. 23 picks; Washington adds the 40th pick to their original No. 6 and No. 18 first-round picks.
