Hosts of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, Morocco, moved into the semi-finals following their comfortable 3-1 quarter-final win over Mali in Rabat on Friday, Afrosport reports.
The Atlas Lionesses finished joint top of Group A while the Female Eagles were one of the two best third-placed finishers.
The Moroccan ladies wasted no time in putting themselves in front as Ibtissam Jraidi scored after seven minutes. Mali tried to level 30 minutes later but it was ruled out for offside by VAR.
It remained 1-0 to Moroccans until the 79th minute when Jraidi doubled the lead from the penalty spot before Kenza Chapelle made it 3-0 off an assist from Imane Saoud in the 89th minute.
The Malians finally got their consolation goal deep in added time when Aissata Traore netted from the spot.
