Music superstar Drake lost his bet of $2 million in the fight between Nigeria-born Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira in the UFC 281 main event on Sunday morning.
Drake backed the ‘Last Stylebender’ to retain his middleweight belt at the Madison Square Garden with a potential winning of $2.9 million.
However, things did not go as expected with Adesanya defeated by TKO in the fifth round by Pereira.
A few hours before the fight in New York, Drake took to his Instagram story to share his bet slip and his stake for Adesanya’s victory.
The result ended Adesanya’s title reign and also snapped his 12-fight winning streak in the middleweight category of the UFC.
It has been a brutal year for Nigeria in the Ultimate Fighting Championship with Kamaru Usman also losing his Welterweight title in August.
Pereira had previously defeated Adesanya twice in kickboxing before Saturday’s win but a rematch is likely to be on cards.
