UFC: Drake wins bet on Israel Adesanya

Multiple award-winning Canadian music star Aubrey ‘Drake’ Graham revealed he won $2.7 million after he bet on Nigerian MMA fighter Israel Adesanya to defeat Alex Pereira in the UFC 287 event on Saturday.

Adesanya reclaimed his middleweight title with a second-round knockout in front of a packed crowd at the FTX Arena in Miami.

Drake, who lost a whopping $1.6 million back in November 2022 after staking a bet on Adesanya to beat Pereira, won big following the Last Stylebender’s triumph in UFC 287 main event.

The 36-year-old musician placed a $500,000 bet on Adesanya to win the bout, earning him an $885,000 payout.

He also staked $400,000 on the Nigerian winning by knockout, which returned a massive $1.8 million. However, he lost about $500,000 on Jorge Masvidal, who lost to Gilbert Burns by unanimous decision.

When asked about the bet after the fight, Adesanya gave a big shoutout to the global artist and to many others who never gave up on him.

“Shoutout to everyone that bet on me but you have to realise that when I step into the octagon I put my life on the line,” he said.

“That’s the biggest parlay you can ever do. I’m a betting man too so shoutout to Drake, we are about to make another deal and get more money.”

Drake, who lost huge sums of money betting on Jorge Masvidal last March and Justin Gaethje two months later, won big ($1 million) when Adesanya beat Jared Cannonier in his title defense in July 2022.

He also enjoyed success when his six-figure bets on the British duo of Paddy Pimblett and Molly McCann paid off after they both won their respective UFC fights in London. The rapper won about $3.6 million on both fighters, and he gifted them new Rolex watches.
