Rangers captain and right-back James Tavernier has warned of the threat Manchester United’s Amad Diallo posses ahead of Thursday’s UEFA Europa League tie at Old Trafford, Afrosport reports.

The Ivory Coast international is arguably the most in-form United player under head coach Ruben Amorim with six goals and five assists in all competitions, including a hat-trick in a 3-1 win over Southampton while he has nine goals and seven assists for the entire season.

It is the most productive season for Amad since he joined United from Atalanta in January 2021 and subsequently had loan spells at Rangers, where he played alongside Tavernier, and at Sunderland.

Speaking ahead of the match, Tavernier said of the 22-year-old: “Yeah I was always convinced [Amad Diallo] would be a good player). He showed real good signs at Rangers, then obviously was in and out of the team.

“Then he had a really bright spell at Sunderland on loan and he’s continued that at Man United and is really showcasing his talent at the minute.

“So yeah, he’ll be a danger man that we’ll have to be aware of tomorrow because obviously he’s really in-form. But yeah, looking forward to playing against him.”

Man United are seventh in the Europa League league phase standings while Rangers are one place and point behind.
