Ademola Lookman and Cyriel Dessers have arrived in Uyo, bringing the number of players in Nigeria’s Super Eagles camp to 18, Afrosport reports.
Lookman’s late arrival was linked to his involvement in Europe’s transfer deadline day on Monday, while Dessers completed a permanent move to Panathinaikos from Scottish side Rangers.
The duo have now joined 16 other players at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in Uyo, where the squad held their first training session on Tuesday.
Five members of the 23-man squad are still expected, including Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen, Wolves’ new signing Tolu Arokodare, and Christantus Uche, who recently secured a move to Crystal Palace.
Nigeria, currently sitting fourth in Group C, are set for a crucial double-header in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa.
The three-time African champions will host Rwanda at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium on Saturday, 6 September, before travelling to Bloemfontein to face South Africa’s Bafana Bafana at the Toyota Stadium three days later.
