Egypt international Mohamed Salah has hit back at a fan account on social media for what he described as “disrespect” towards his former t Liverpool team-mates Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez, Afrosport reports.
The X account, Anfield Edition, which boasts more than 500,000 followers, posted a graphic comparing Diaz and Nunez with Liverpool’s summer signings Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz.
The image, which was captioned, “Name a bigger upgrade in footballing history”, clearly irritated Salah, who quickly responded to the troll post.
Diaz and Nunez both departed Anfield this summer, with the Colombian joining Bayern Munich and the Uruguayan moving to Al Hilal. The duo played a key role in Liverpool’s Premier League success last season, contributing a combined 18 league goals as the Reds clinched their 20th top division title.
Arne Slot’s side moved decisively in the market to replace them, securing Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen and Isak from Newcastle United in a double blockbuster deal worth close to £250 million.
Despite the high-profile arrivals, Salah was quick to defend his former strike partners, reminding supporters of their impact. His reply to Anfield Edition’s post read: “How about we celebrate the great signings without disrespecting the PL [Premier League] champions?”

This marks one of several times the Egyptian has used social media to make his voice heard. During last season’s contract standoff, the 33-year-old frequently posted cryptic messages on X, and earlier this summer he openly criticised UEFA following the death of Palestinian footballer Suleiman Al-Obeid.
